# Inter Galactic v0.6.6 Beta

Build date: 2026-05-03

## Highlights

### Features

- Help & Safety and Policies settings are now available in the app, with
Matrix-native report and block/unblock controls for the selected account.
- Photo rooms have a cleaner grid, photo stacks, comment and reaction
indicators, mobile-friendly cards, and clearer add-photo actions.
- Favorites now has a space-like header with a local banner image.
- Custom themes can be exported for later import, and built-in theme names have
been cleaned up for public release.
- Voice and Video settings now include local soundboard volume controls.
- Calls now include easier access to soundboard seeding, microphone selection,
speaker selection, and Windows noise suppression.
- Android can record and send voice messages from the mobile composer.
- Security settings include a manual decryption retry action for already
  verified sessions.
- Android beta APK builds now use Firebase/FCM push by default, while desktop
and web builds keep that Android-only push setup out of their packages.

### Calls And Streaming

- Windows gameplay sharing is tuned around a stable 720p/30 default, with
higher-quality presets still available when your system and network can
  handle them.
- Supported Windows systems can now use GPU-backed H.264 screen sharing, with
safer fallback when hardware encoding is not available.
- Screen sharing now defaults Share audio on, and hiding a screenshare locally
also mutes only that share's audio until it is revealed again.
- Stream fallback is less likely to blame the network when a direct connection
is healthy, and it responds more appropriately to encoder pressure.
- Call participant cleanup is more reliable after reconnects, stale streams,
  and mixed client versions.
- Windows noise suppression is safer and smoother, with better protection
against cutouts, click artifacts, keyboard noise, and unsupported microphone
  capture formats.
- LiveKit calls no longer fail to join when Windows noise-suppression capture
  settings are active.
- The desktop share picker now shows windows and apps first and handles missing
  preview thumbnails more gracefully.

### Soundboard

- In-call soundboard playback is more reliable during call joins, reconnects,
encrypted rooms, and Matrix sync recovery.
- Manual soundboard button presses are no longer suppressed immediately after a
  join sound plays.
- Soundboard clips can now have shared per-sound volume levels, while each user
still keeps their own local playback volume.
- Soundboard upload permission now follows the normal room/space Permissions
flow, and new soundboard-capable spaces default to member uploads.
- Desktop receivers recover more reliably when a soundboard play arrives before
a newly uploaded sound has finished syncing.

### Messaging And Rooms

- Responding to the last pending room invitation now clears the orange
  invitation tile immediately.
- Direct-message rooms inferred from one-to-one membership now keep custom room
  names after users rename them.
- Mobile message feeds dismiss the keyboard when you scroll.
- URL preview expansion keeps the chat pinned to the bottom when you were
  already reading the latest message.
- Mobile bubble replies, self-message labels, incoming avatars, and space
banner typography received polish for a cleaner chat view.
- Mobile calendar and account-management layouts no longer clip important
  controls on narrow screens.

### Login, Accounts, And Mobile

- Android and iOS login screens no longer expose account registration; desktop
  and web registration remain available.
- Desktop and web registration now asks for an invite code only when the
homeserver requires one, and handles more Matrix authentication flows.
- Sign-in and restored sessions are less likely to show as generic Error
accounts after a non-critical startup failure.
- Android pusher cleanup is safer for accounts with multiple devices.
- New installs default to `matrix.org`, with Inter Galactic homeservers still
  available through manual server entry.
- Offline demo mode is platform-neutral and more defensive when local sample
  thread data is incomplete.

### Fixes And Improvements

- Light Side and Dark Side theme choices now stay selected after restarting
  the app.
- Favorite rooms are more durable across app updates, account restore, and
  session recovery.
- Automatic update checks are enabled for users who inherited the older default
that could leave update alerts off.
- Voice recording teardown, poll creation, reaction taps, notification setup,
call lifecycle cleanup, and demo room cleanup are more reliable around
  navigation and failure edges.
- Microphone and speaker choices now save stable device IDs instead of display
  labels.
- Favorites banner uploads reject oversized local preference payloads.
- Transparent call popout controls now stay on the popout itself instead of
  appearing before a popout exists.
- Desktop compact-window mode keeps auxiliary panels tucked away more cleanly
and gives room-row controls more breathing room.
- Windows release builds are more resilient to transient package-metadata
issues and now use the hardware-encoder-ready WebRTC path by default.

### Developer Tools

- In-call diagnostics, stream diagnostics, RNNoise status, soundboard context,
and related logs are easier to copy or save for troubleshooting.
- Developer log exports and TURN/WebRTC test logs now redact secrets where
  applicable.
